Confirmed for the PS5 and PS4, Scarlet Nexus is looking to show off its lovely art style through some stylish animation. In case you missed it, the latest trailer starts with a lone, psychic samurai facing off with some kind of crazy monster while the world shifts. The animation comes from the studio, Sunrise, Inc., and you’ve probably seen its work. They have animated a few Gundam series and Code Geass among many other properties. You can search through the company’s past projects by year here.
The rest of the trailer has what looks like in-game cutscenes and actual gameplay with characters fighting more of the odd-looking creatures and performing crazy sword slices or throwing items. There is also a mysterious ceremony that gives them red lines in their faces in what may be an initiation into the Other Suppression Force.
The story of Scarlet Nexus is set in a world of technology and psychic abilities. Mankind has discovered the psionic gene in our brains, and we’ve become a race of Professor X’s. Because we can’t have nice things, a group of “Others” comes to Earth to eat our tasty brains. Only those with strong psychic abilities are able to defeat them, so they are recruited by the Other Suppression Force. As part of the OSF, you’ll be doing your part to stop them.
Scarlet Nexus is a slick-looking action RPG with a sci-fi story and fast combat that should look even better on the PS5. We don’t have a release date yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
