Codemasters have today detailed the first post-launch content drop for DiRT Rally 2.0. And it’s set to be a chilly Season One. That’s because the usually temperate climes are being brought down a degree or two with a new destination – one of three to join the lineup. But a few new cars are sure to warm you up inside.
To start with, the iconic Citroen C4 Rally and ŠKODA Fabia Rally will be joining all Deluxe Edition garages on March 12th. The two cars are described as forgivable drives, and boast a rather special past. But don’t just take our word for it:
“We are delighted to bring back two iconic rally cars which will excite our core community and give new fans a taste of rally history,” Ross Gowing, Chief Games Designer, said.
“The Citroën C4 Rally was extremely dominant in the late 2000s and features Petter Solberg’s livery, who enjoys a great working relationship with the studio.
The ŠKODA Fabia Rally was driven by the great Colin McRae, and we are very proud that players will be able to experience another of his iconic vehicles. Players can expect incredible traction and stability from the both these vehicles, and they make a fantastic addition to the legendary car roster in DiRT Rally 2.0.”
But that’s just the start because two weeks later, on March 26th, the ” enhanced ” Monte Carlo Rally will make an appearance in all its snowy glory. And the remainder will continue to follow a similar release schedule, with new content expected every two weeks, such as:
Week 3: Monte Carlo Rally, Special Livery
Week 5: BMW M1 Procar Rally, Open Manta 400, Special Livery
Week 7: Sweden Rally
Week 9: Ford Focus RS Rally 2007, Subaru Impreza, Special Livery
Week 11: Germany Rally
Players who own the Deluxe Edition will receive all the new content as standard. But they will also be available to purchase separately or as part of a pack for everyone else, should the lineup tickle your fancy. Personally, we think the Monte Carlo Rally will be a surefire buy for most; after all, there isn’t a race like it on the calendar!
Season 2 will follow the first, though details and dates are yet to be revealed. However, it’s very likely that the next round of DLC will follow a similar pattern to that above – a few new events, some cars and a choice of paint. You know, just what all us left-toe brakers dream of. When we hear anymore, you’ll be the second to know.
Have you got your tyres filthy in DiRT Rally 2.0? Or do you prefer to live your life without a front seat navigator?
