Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games follows the same warning about AI that movies like The Terminator and The Matrix and even Bill Gates and Stephen Hawking now espouse. We should be careful how our technology evolves, or it may someday be our master.
A new trailer from the studio goes into some of the details of how the team created these future threats and talks about the discussions behind their choices. It shows how the protagonist, Aloy, can reprogram some of them to fight for her. We could be wrong, but there also appears to be a nod to Far Cry’s tower climbing mechanic. The Snapmaw, a robodile (my made up name for a crododile robot) is revealed and looks to be another dangerous foe.
Horizon Zero Dawn seems to be shaping up nicely for its release on February 28, 2017, especially with the slick footage from the PS4 Pro. With all the delays lately, the first quarter of 2017 is going to be chock full of big titles making next year amazing, at least until the machines take their rightful place as the dominant force on Earth.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
