Oh, Square Enix, you silly sausages. You’ve only gone and spoiled the surprise, haven’t you? The publisher has already teased that there will be an announcement on March 15th, but the cat has already been let out of the bag.
The official Tomb Raider website has leaked that the next Tomb Raider game is indeed Shadow of the Tomb Raider. What’s more is that by inspecting the site’s HTML, you can find references to the game’s release date, announcement of the release date, and the platforms on which the game will release. Just a massive cock-up, basically.
According to the leaked release date, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will release on September 14th, 2018. It’s looking likely that it’ll release on the same day across all platforms (PS4, Xbox One, PC) rather than being tied to an exclusivity deal.
For the time being we’ve got nothing else, but expect a trailer to drop with tomorrow’s announcement. However, the actual release date announcement is supposed to take place in April. After today’s leak, we’re left wondering if Square Enix will just drop all the details tomorrow, including the release date.
