It’s real now. Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn has a release date of June 5th. They said it couldn’t be done after the admittedly not great original, but the powers of Shaq cannot be contained. Fortunately, for you and me, his awesome power is used for good.
The story is revealed in the trailer, and it looks like the game is leaning fully into goofiness. Demons have come to Earth to brainwash all of humanity. To accomplish this task, they take the form of celebrities, and Shaq must defeat them for killing his mentor. It’s a classic formula with a story worthy of a beat ’em-up starring Shaq. There is no need to make it complicated.
A game where Shaq is fighting is no great stretch. Shaq has been a warrior his entire life. From fighting debilitating diseases with Taco Bell to sticking it to pain with Icy Hot, he has spent his life liberating people from their oppressors. We look forward to joining him in more hard-hitting action and ill rhymes (we have listened to the trailer song multiple times) when Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn releases on June 5th.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
