Site Stuff: Write for Us! We’ll Give You Gold Coins! (And More!)

Pure PlayStation header

You read that right. Real gold coins*

It’s about time for my quarterly recruitment drive, hence this post. If you’ve stumbled upon it, it means you’re interested. Why else would you be reading this? We’ve got a ton of other news/features/reviews that you could be reading, but you chose this one. You’re interested.

Enough of the silly bollocks. The real jam is that I’m looking to expand the team and get some more decent writers on board, so if you’re interested in writing for the 412th best PlayStation site in the world and earning some decent pocket money, then I’m interested in you and people like you.

I mean people who are interested in getting involved with running a damn good site and earning some decent coin in the process. It could be you. But it won’t be this guy. He’s a plagiarising thief. We don’t like thieves around here. Don’t be that guy. Be a neat guy/gal. Like Brucey.

Below are the roles. Further below are a couple of email addresses for the top dogs of this operation. Read the roles, write the email. Simple stuff.

Weekend Editor/s – Open

Tasks: You’ll effectively take over the running of the site over the weekend. From Friday evening’s Pure PlayStation Plays to the handover on Sunday evening, you’ll keep the site turning over with news pieces and whatever else takes your fancy. It’ll be your time to shine. Want to explain why Gattaca should have been made into a triple-A PS1 exclusive? Apply quickly before I actually finish that piece myself.

Requirements

  • You’ll be fluent in English and you’ll have excellent writing skills. You’ll also be familiar with SEO and best practices.
  • The expectation is that the site will be updated regularly over the weekend with a minimum of five posts per day.
  • This could potentially be a shared position. Nobody wants to spend every weekend of their life at a computer, right?

Rewards

You’ll be paid per-post, per-word, and per-view. There’s also the possibility for a quarterly bonus, as well as a share of the revenue from any YouTube videos created from your work – whether that be news pieces, reviews, or features turned into YouTube videos. This will be discussed in more detail during our first chat, and depending on your experience, there is some wiggle room for negotiation.

You’ll also receive your very own Pure PlayStation coffee cup (all staff get this) and a Pure PlayStation t-shirt (if you are attending industry events.)

The Job

The daily bread and butter of the site – news stories. Every day there are dozens upon dozens of news stories begging to be written. You’ll scour the web to find the hottest news and bring it to our readers in a fun, easy to digest fashion. You’ll also be on the receiving end of a million press releases every hour of every day. That’s the life. It’s not for the weak. You need to want callouses on your fingertips to do this job well. Don’t even think about having nails, or at least not ones that don’t look awful.

  • Ideally familiar with WordPress
  • Previous experience is not strictly necessary as full training is given

Rewards

You’ll be paid per-post, per-word, and per-view. There’s also the possibility for a quarterly bonus, as well as a share of the revenue from any YouTube videos created from your work – whether that be news pieces, reviews, or features turned into YouTube videos.
