Vertigo Games and Wolfdog Interactive have announced today that they will be releasing their award-winning VR strategy game Skyworld to PSVR later this month.
Skyworld first saw a release on PC virtual reality headsets back in 2017 where it was well received by critics and players, and now it’s our turn to take control of an army and battle our way to victory on PSVR.
The PSVR release of Skyworld isn’t a simple copy/paste port. The developers have added some new features to the game, such as tracking player progress via a levelling system that carries across from single player to online play, as well as online leaderboards to get them sweet bragging rights.
So what is Skyworld? The developers say it’s a hybrid game. It mixes in turn-based combat, deck building, and fast-paced, real-time battles. You can build an army of your choosing by using a combination of the 16 units available in the game, including snipers, arches, and even sky fortresses.
The game has a full single player campaign where you must build an army to defend the universe against demons who want to snatch the magical cores and rule the realms, presumably in the way that sees healthcare and dental cut from public spending, and sees public executions as sport. It’ll serve as good training, too, in case you want to take your strategies online and fight against the real world in the game’s online multiplayer.
There’s a trailer up above that’s well worth watching, and below you’ll find the screenshots that were sent over to Pure PlayStation today.
Skyworld will release on PSVR on March 26th. Keep an eye out for our review in the next couple of weeks.
