Delays are commonplace in the games industry and it’s just part and parcel of the experience. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is just another unfortunate victim in the cycle of gaming life.
CI Games has announced today that due to unforeseen technical issues, the PS5 version of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 has been delayed from its originally planned June 4th release date.
However, it’s not all bad news as the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions will still launch as planned on June 4th.
To make up for the unfortunate delay, CI Games is giving the first major DLC as a freebie to all players across all platforms. The DLC will come with a new map and a bunch of new contracts, as well as some other unannounced goods; the DLC is still in development, so the contents aren’t final yet.
When the PS5 version of the game does eventually see the light of day, owners of the PS4 version will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version at no extra cost, but before that happens, the PS4 version will be patched to run at 4K on PS5, so there’s still a taste of next-gen until the full meal is delivered.
Tobias Heussner, EP, CI Games said:
“We could not have foreseen these issues. However, we would like to assure our players that our highly experienced, professional and dedicated team are working hard with the platform holder and engine provider to resolve the problems as soon as feasibly possible, to ensure we can bring the PS5 community the high calibre sniping game they have been waiting for. We will offer a free digital upgrade to the PS5 version with all physical and digital purchases of the PS4 release.”
It’s a shame, sure, but at least for the majority of players, the game will still release as planned on June 4th.
