Sony Softens Forbidden West Blow With Zero Dawn PS5 Update

Zero Dawn at 60fps

Sony has announced what we already knew to be true – that Horizon Forbidden West will not release this year on PS5 and PS4.

Guerrilla Games‘ open-world sequel will now release on February 18th, 2022 for PS5 and PS4, as announced over on the PlayStation Blog.

The delay into 2022 was previously rumoured by fairly reliable sources, but it’s good to finally get the confirmation from Sony.

To soften the blow of Horizon Forbidden West’s 2022 release date, Guerrilla Games has put together a next-gen patch for Horizon Zero Dawn. This new update will let PS5 players enjoy Aloy’s first adventure at up-to 60fps on their next-gen machine – and it’s free, which is nice.

Pre-orders for Horizon Forbidden West begin on September 2nd, 2021 and Sony will be giving more information on pre-orders and the various editions next week.

For now, though, go and enjoy that 60fps update. I know I will. Heck, I might actually finish the game now!
