PSVR and horror games seem to go hand-in-hand, and there’s no shortage of such games for Sony’s VR peripheral. In fact, the platform holder will itself be publishing another horror game for PSVR with The Midnight Sanctuary. Don’t be mistaken, though, as The Midnight Sanctuary is also playable without the PSVR headset, meaning you’ll be able to play the game just fine on your PS4/PS4 Pro.
[Correction: The game will not launch with PSVR support, but it will be added in at a later date, alongside Steam’s VR support.]
Developed by CAVYHOUSE, The Midnight Sanctuary takes player through a twisting tale of mystery in an isolated Japanese village that’s inhabited by a cult-like community. That might not sound that scary (just being in Japan would be terrifying for me) but the press release notes that the game’s residents “twist themselves in half, appear and disappear, and leaf off cliffs.” A little unsettling how casually it was thrown in, but if the execution is right, it could make for a pretty unnerving experience.
The Midnight Sanctuary will release on October 4th for PS4 and PSVR. There’s a trailer up above, so give it a look if you’re interested in seeing how the game plays.
