Sam Fisher and the Splinter Cell franchise have been on hiatus since the release of Splinter Cell Blacklist on PS3 and Xbox 360, but Ubisoft is slowly bringing the dormant series back to the gaming consciousness, albeit in a roundabout way.
We’re still no closer to a new Splinter Cell game, but we do at least have a new Sam Fisher adventure. As part of the Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s Episode 2: Deep State DLC, players will be able to play as Sam Fisher, complete with his iconic night-vision goggles.
Ubisoft has released a new gameplay video for the upcoming Deep State DLC, and it features a lot of gameplay from the new classes, as well as Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher. It’s cool and a nice continuation of the shared universe established with Sam Fisher’s appearance in Ghost Recon Wildlands.
The real question that most players will have is “where’s the new Splinter Cell game?” And that’s a sentiment I definitely share. While these crossover events are nice enough, there’s still the hunger for a dedicated Splinter Cell game, not just a mini-mission as part of another franchise. Sam Fisher deserves better, doesn’t he?
We sometimes link to online retail stores. If you buy something from our links, we may make a small commission which goes towards keeping the lights on and coffee in the pot.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
