It has finally happened. Activision has officially announced that Spyro will be making his big comeback later this year in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy which will release on September 21st, 2018, for PS4 and Xbox One.
It’s been a long time coming and it was only a matter of time, really, what with all of the ongoing leaks and teases. We were starting to get sick of them, so this announcement is a god-send to us…
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is less of a remastering and more of a remake, akin to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The visuals have been reworked from the ground up to give Spyro the best possible showing on the newest generation of hardware. Perhaps most importantly, the team at Toys for Bob states on the PlayStation Blog that original content from the games was being used:
“Ultimately, we were also able to leverage many of the original assets such as level models, level collision, animated objects, character models, music, game text, and game sounds through a combination of other in-house tools and a few payments to Moneybags.”
You can pre-order your copy of Spyro Reginited Trilogy here from Amazon, or get yourself a digital version on the PlayStation Store.
