Star Wars Battlefront 2’s single player story mode’s length has been revealed, though we’re guessing it’s not going to be well received by everyone looking to pick up a copy this November 17th.
Aussie outlet Press Start recently spoke with Motive’s (the studio working on the single player portion of Battlefront 2) studio producer David Robillard about the single player campaign and, more specifically, the length of time it will take to beat it.
According to Robillard, Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s campaign will run for around 5-8 hours, though that’s obviously going to depend on a few factor. Robillard explains that “we wanted to stay very driven towards the Star Wars fantasy that the players are going to experience and not have it be drawn out.”
In this instance, we kind of agree that less may be more. A longer campaign may be filled with superfluous fluff, whereas a focused albeit shorter story is more likely to keep players engaged until the credits roll. Or at least that’s our armchair analysis…
Some may feel it’s a little too short, though, but we’d argue that it’s around, oh, around 5-8 hours longer than DICE’s first entry in the reboot of the beloved series…
What do you think? Is 5-8 hours long enough for single player shooter, or would you want a longer story? Lay your star cards on the table down in the comments below.
