Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Single-Player Campaign Will Span Multiple Eras, Still Coming Later This Year

Star Wars Battlefront was a decent first attempt by DICE and EA to bring back the magic of massive Star Wars battles, though the lack of a single-player campaign didn’t do it any favours and fans were quick to jump on the difference in shipped content between DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront and the two original games that released in the years before.
The good news is that DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 will feature a single-player campaign. What’s more is that, according to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, the campaign will span multiple Star Wars eras. We’re guessing that means we’ll be playing more of the original trilogy as well as the new films, though it’s possible EA and DICE may want to utilise some of the interesting locales in the prequel trilogy.
Furthermore, Wilson also let slip during EA’s investor relations call that the campaign is being developed by Motive Studios and Criterion, the latter of which brought us the Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR Experience last year for the PSVR. Could there be some potential for a PSVR mode of sorts? Who knows, but we’ll be keeping an ear out for any and all info on Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Battlefront 2 is due to release later this year, though as of right now there isn’t a release date that has been made publicly available. We imagine it’ll follow the same suit as the first game and release a month or two before the new Star Wars movie hits cinemas.
