Lucasfilm and Aspyr have announced that the classic Star Wars Episode 1 Racer will be releasing on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, though there’s no word yet on any release date.
The modernised version of the game will feature new controls with the modern gamer in mind, as well as split-screen multiplayer so you’ll be able to race against friends and family on the same console, while the Nintendo Switch version will feature LAN multiplayer support. Sadly, this won’t be available on PS4, but it kind of makes sense. How often do you lug your PS4 out of the house? Never, these days!
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer will feature 25 playable racers, including Anakin Skywalker, his nemesis Sebulba, and Ratts Tyerell. You’ll be blasting away at high speeds across eight unique worlds, including Tatooine, Baroonda, and Malastare. And the upgrades feature found in the original will still be in-tact for the PS4/Switch release.
At the time of writing, we don’t have a release date or even a trailer, but we do have a couple of screenshots, so enjoy their retro goodness while we wait for an official release date.
Aspyr Media previously released Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast for PS4, which we reviewed last year. You can check out our Jedi Outcast PS4 review here, and then have a gander at our Jedi Outcast 2 PS4 cheats guide.
