Void Bastards embodies dark humour, a risky space journey and strategic steps where every move has potential consequences for the player.
Lead a crew of prisoner escapees through the mass amount of dangers that lure in the Sargasso Nebula. You’ll have to think several steps ahead and players will be left with tough decisions. Such as what route to pursue, where to scavenge in a roguelike spaceship and even small details including managing fuel and bullets. The game will also feature a lot of FPS elements with plenty of gunfire and space-pirates that will cause you trouble.
Nevertheless, it’s not all doom and gloom, Void Bastards has a mechanic where you’re character gets “rehydrated” when encountering a death. In essence, every character is disposable and can incarnate as a new prisoner. But just like in Doctor Who, you’ll never know if the regeneration will be for better or worse.
Void Bastards is developed by Blue Manchu and published by Humble Bundle. Players were treated to a new announcement trailer in anticipation of Void Bastards docking onto PS4 and Switch next month, so make sure to check it out above if you haven’t already. In the trailer, it states that the game is brought to us “from the development director of Bioshock”. On the day of launch, the Bang Tydy DLC will be available, although the DLC will need to be purchased separately from the game, and will be priced at $4.99.
The game was originally released last year of May 2019 on Windows and Xbox-One and received much praise for its unique take on the genre and comic-book style aesthetics throughout.
Void Bastards will be landing onto PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on May 7th.
