Survive Rain World as a Slugcat
The developers of Rain World have built a post-apocalyptic world, but they have added a new twist. Instead of driving around with Charlize Theron, you are a slugcat, which is obviously part cat and part slug. This is hardly the hero you would expect to see, but the game focuses on watching other creatures and being smart about your interactions in order to survive the ecosystem. The game promotes a strategy of the survival of the smartest.
All creatures, including you, are hungry, and everyone needs to eat. They will respond to your presence by ignoring you or trying to eat you. If you make some animals mad, they will specifically target you. If you are kind to another animal, it might help you in return. By using caution and observation, you can reach your next meal, instead of being the next meal.
The game has a more retro art style, and you really need to see it in action to appreciate it. Rain World will release later this year, and you can check out the developer’s site here for more info.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
