What do you do when you create a hit indie game? Take the money and run, or risk all by merging your game with an insanely popular comic book/television series? Well the boys and girls over at Team17 choose the latter option when they decided to merge their hit game, The Escapists, with Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead. What are the results of their efforts? Well none other that the creatively titled The Escapists The Walking Dead (TETWD), of course.
In TETWD the player takes control of none other than Rick Grimes (sounds like a Cillit Bang salesman) as he wakes up in a hospital only to realise the world has turned to crap and everyone is a zombie, or at least nearly everyone. Sounds like a good time, right? Well if you think this sounds like your cup of tea then we’re sure you’ll be trilled to find out the story spans from Mr Grimes awakening all the way to issue 83 of the hit comic book series. The Escapist’s crafting system is also making a return with over 250 materials, which can be used to craft over 70 different items including the ultimate zombie exterminator… a shovel (bang and the dirt is gone!).
The only question left then is when will TETWD dig its way out of the grave and onto your PS4? The simple answer is February 16th. Remember, for everything The Escapists The Walking Dead and everything PlayStation keep none other than Pure PlayStation in mind.
Conor is Pure PlayStation’s resident Irishman. Naturally that means he’s constantly slurring his words and turning up stinking of Guiness with a potato in his pocket. It’s not all bad though, because Conor is also a PlayStation nut. When he’s not doing his best Father Jack impression (Father Ted, watch it) he’s got a DualShock 4 in his hand and a Vita in the other. Yeah, we don’t know how he manages it either.
