The Last of Us 2 Release Date Leaked, No Zombies This Year

The Last of Us 2, or Part II, if you want to call it by its official name, is due to make an appearance during next week’s State of Play broadcast. Nobody really knows what to expect. Could we see more gameplay? A trailer? Maybe even a release date announcement? The latter is looking rather likely, given that Naughty Dog’s sequel has had its release date leaked today. Well, apparently leaked.

Swiss online retailer Softridge has listed The Last of Us 2’s release date on its website as February 28th, 2020. That’s not all, as the site also lists the game’s special edition and the collector’s edition, each with their own artwork. It all looks legitimate and my guess is that a release date and assets have been passed along to retailers in anticipation for next week’s State of Play.

To lend some credence to the leak, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the game will release in February 2020. A previous rumour, which we wrote about back in July (on my birthday!) stated that the game would release in February 2020 and that there would be four editions of the game. The retailer with the leak only lists three versions, though that could change in the future.

My money is on this being correct. Softridge isn’t some no-name outfit looking to draw in a few customers with a bogus listing. I’m going to say that we’ll see more gameplay during next week’s State of Play, as well as The Last of Us 2’s release date. And then from then on out, I’ll be checking the Softridge website weekly for any sign of a new Splinter Cell game.
