Sony has proven the dominant force in the gaming industry this last generation. Success that has been greatly helped by its sound strategy when it comes to what games it gets behind – Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last Of Us, Marvel’s Spider-Man, to name but a few. But if you were worrying that strength is going to be weakened by the launch of a new console next year, don’t fret, because the studio know what they’re doing.
In fact, they’ve reassured fans that these spectacular projects will continue to be made from the get go – partly for the sake of the fans, but mostly because they love to make them.
These are not my words, mind you. These are the words of Hermen Hulst, head of their Worldwide Studios, who gave an interview to Game Industry Biz. In it, he expressed their desire to continue with this strong form long into the next decade, as well as to embrace a new roster of developers – talented and inspired enough to entertain an evolving community of gamers.
The comments read:
“We are very committed to the types of games we’ve been making at Worldwide Studios for the last decade: big, spectacular experiences with story and characters at the core. We will keep making these games, because we love to make them.”
Which sounds just like the quality games we’ve been enjoying for the last few years, so they certainly know what they do best, and more importantly, how to replicate it. Luckily for us. I feel my purse wincing already!
What first-party games would you like to see accompanying the console’s announcement? Or, better yet, what game – full stop – would make the holidays 2K20 unbeatable for you? Send Santa your early wish list in the comments box below.
