Very few gamers missed The Simpsons: Hit and Run game back in 2003. Maybe it was because it featured everyone’s favourite donut dunking, nuclear controlling yellow man. But the truth is, it was a fun release that recreated our beloved Springfield in all its digital glory. Now there’s chatter of a possible remake, by none other than its original producer Vlad Ceraldi.
The reality remains, however, that it probably won’t happen. Still, we can dream.
It all came about in an interview with LADBible, where Ceraldi explained he could easily see it on today’s consoles. Although, such a project would require permission from many parties – some of whom are probably quite protective over their IP. Doh!
“I could see it on multiple different types of platforms as a remake or remaster. It would have to take the parties who are in charge of the property to want that to happen and someone out there to decide that they were going to go out and do it. But absolutely, it would be fun to explore those characters and that universe again, that work again.”
Despite this interest, such discussions have only been made within the confines of a pub. Which, to be honest, is probably home to more good ideas than the boardroom. Still, it means a technical team hasn’t convinced those who control the pursestrings it’s a good idea. Which, in turn, means a remake of The Simpsons Hit and Run won’t be coming any time soon.
Now we can’t say we’re okily dokily with that. But that’s just how the Krusty burger crumbles.
