Last week we reported the disappointing news that Crash Team Racing Nitro-fueled was getting microtransactions in an upcoming patch. This was despite Activision making assurances that such a move was not in the pipeline, and it being quite the family oriented game. But the publishers have no plans on backtracking on that move and have today made the associated cost of Wumpa Coins public knowledge.
Spoiler alert: we’re talking pounds not pence.
Three price points are available: 2,500 coins for £2.15 / €2.49, 5,000 coins with 250 coin bonus for £4.29 / €4.99, and 10,000 coins with 1,000 coin bonus for £8.49 / €9.99. And they’re probably confident that a profitable proportion of the gaming community will pay it – considering the fact that the standard method for collecting Wumpa Coins is so much of a grind. A design choice, perhaps?
These controversial microtransactions are available in most regions now. And if they’re not, they should be by the end of play today. In the meantime, we can continue to loathe them under our breath. Darn microtransactions…

P.s. At first glance, this exchange rate looks better than the GBP/USD rate at present.
