Video game movies. Gah. They’re rubbish, generally speaking, and so it’s with gritted teeth and stiff fingers that we knock this article up on an otherwise slow news day: The Uncharted movie that’s been floating around since forever finally has a finished script by screenwriter Joe Carnahan.
Carnahan posted his complete script on Instagram (obviously just the front cover visible) with the promise that it’s a “beast” of a script and that it can’t be rivaled by anything else currently being written in Hollywood. Confident? Or just a little foolish?
Our bet is that the movie won’t come to fruition, in fact, we kind of hope it doesn’t. Considering that Uncharted started out as a bit of a rip-off of pulp action movies, it seems a little pointless to go backwards. Besides, Uncharted 4 is more than filmic enough for fans of the cinema. Still, it could be good.
But then again, Tomb Raider, Street Fighter, Assassin’s Creed, Hitman and the rest could have been good, too.
Would you be up for an Uncharted movie, or will you be tweeting everyone at Sony to burn this script, no matter how awesome it is?
