It has today been announced that the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be getting a PlayStation 5 release, bundled with all the upgraded assets you’d expect. But what’s more, anyone who owns the game on the PlayStation 4 will be able to enjoy the enhanced version for free thanks to an upgrade option. So, Geralt isn’t ready to say goodbye to you yet.
That may come as a relief to many who may still be trying to complete its very generous storyline. Or to those of us who are simply captivated by the world, and are happy to get lost amongst its dirt tracks every so often. However, with this news comes the expectation that a few more of our favourites will be following suit – something we had expected but are yet to see much traction of the sort. So, keep your eyes peeled for similar announcements.
As of yet, we only know that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will launch sometime next year (2021). Which means it isn’t a launch game; not unless the console is greatly delayed. But it still acts as a nice and unexpected surprise to wait for. After all, who saw this news coming!
Anyway, the PlayStation 5 version will include all downloadable content and expansions (it’s the Complete Edition, just as we enjoyed on the PlayStation 4). And it will make use of the ray tracing and faster loading times that are only available on the next generation of hardware. So, you’ll be able to enjoy a few rounds of Gwent like you’ve never enjoyed them before.
