Don’t expect to see The Witcher 3 running at 4K on PS4 Pro anytime soon after the new console’s launch. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the studio won’t be spending any of its time and resources on updating the game, but will instead be focusing on Cyberpunk 2077 and spin-off title Gwent.
Speaking to Eurogamer, the famed Polish studio said that “since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release and edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro.”
It’s a shame, really, but at the end of the day, that’s business. The studio spent heavy on developing the game, not the mention the post-launch content, and with a big new AAA IP still in the works as well as a highly anticipated The Witcher card game on the horizon, we can see why the studio has decided to skip out on updating The Witcher 3 for PS4 Pro. Doesn’t make us happy, mind, but we understand all the same.
