Infinity Ward has previously told us that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be quite different to the series’ games we’ve had in the past. Largely, in how emotive they plan on making its story. However, Captain Price and John ‘Soap’ McTavish will be making a welcomed, if not difficult, return to action. Along with a few more recognisable squaddies.
That last word is included due to how vaguely the question was answered by narrative director, Taylor Kurosaki. “Yup”, was his one-worded response on Twitter when asked if other characters would be returning, which provides no further detail beyond confirmation of their inclusion. Neither does it say one way or another whether they’re woven into the main story or merely included in a side feature.
Unfortunately, that can’t be substantiated at this time.
However, despite Price’s return, even he isn’t immune to change; a new actor will be providing his own interpretation of this veteran in the 2019 release. This again emphasises the studio’s commitment to developing a game with a new feel to it – practically rebooting the series a few games down the line. We’re excited to see just how different it feels, and how differently it makes us feel.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle restarts on October 25th; we’ll see you in the hangar, private!
