With Sony’s PlayStation Now (PS Now) service gaining a little more of the public mind share now that it allows players to download PS4 games, much like Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, it’s only right that people are starting to question the service. How many games are there? Is the streaming good? How many games are added each month? These are all questions I’ve been asked by my buddies, and one of them came across an interesting advert for the service on the PlayStation Store website:
At first glance, it appears to imply that 31 new games are added each month. This is what my not-so-clued up mate was asking about. He wanted to know if 31 new games were added each month. Of course, 31 new games are not added each month, but to the average filthy casual (that was a joke) who doesn’t have their finger on the gaming pulse, it could seem like a really, really good offer. I was even fooled for a few seconds, before I realised that 31 is a really odd number (double meaning!) of games to add to the service each month – that and the fact it kind of looks like it’s in a calendar? But still, it’s not accurate and it is a little misleading.
So if you’ve stumbled across this article whilst looking for “the Now Nintendo PlayBox streaming service”, you won’t be getting 31 new games each month. Heck, we’re lucky to get half that amount, but that’s another story for another day. Naturally, though, I’ve filed a complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK, on behalf of all those who don’t know any better.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
