Transformers: Battlegrounds Announced for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC, Releasing October 23rd
Hasbro Inc. and Outright Games have announced today that they’ll be releasing a brand new Transformers game later this year on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, and that game is called Transformers: Battlegrounds, which is being developed by UK developer Coatsink.
“The TRANSFORMERS franchise is one of the most enduring and recognizable in the world of entertainment,” said Terry Malham, CEO of Outright Games. “It’s an honour to work with this beloved universe and these iconic characters to create a new and exciting TRANSFORMERS console game that families can enjoy together.”
“TRANSFORMERS: BATTLEGROUNDS is a new and authentic take on what a TRANSFORMERS video game can be,” says Mark Blecher, Hasbro SVP Corporate Strategy and Business Affairs. “It’s exciting for us to bring the epic story of the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons to life for a new generation of fans on console.”
There’s no much known about how the game will play out just yet – the press release was sparse with information, though we do have a trailer and some screenshots. The official line is that the evil MEGATRON is closing in on the Allspark, and Bumblebee and the Autobots need a new commander to help save Earth. The game will be single-player and multiplayer.
Transformers: Battlegrounds will release on October 23rd for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
