If you’re a fan of odd simulation games, Truck Driver could be your latest target. Taking inspiration from Euro Truck Simulator and the like, Truck Driver is exactly what it says on the tin: You drive trucks.
Perhaps I’ve sold it a little short there. Bas de Jonge, Marketing Manager at SOEDESCO explains “Being a truck driver involves more than driving from point A to point B. With Truck Driver – as the name implies – the focus is on the driver instead of the truck, including conversations with clients, jobs going different as planned, and maintaining the social aspect of the job”.
You’ll do jobs for people, helping them out of sticky spots, but sometimes they’ll screw you over by being a bit dim-witted. According to the press release, some characters will give you jobs with unclear instructions, or perhaps they’ll have you deliver the wrong goods to the wrong place, resulting in some clowning around. It certainly sounds a little different to my usual cross-country trips in American Truck Simulator on PC, but we’ll have to see how it plays before making a proper judgement on the game.
Truck Driver is available on PS4 from today, and there’s much more to come in future updates for the game. You can check out the launch trailer up above, and then have a watch of the ‘Future of Truck Driver’ video down below to see what the developers have planned for future updates.
