TY The Tasmanian Tiger originally released in an age where digital downloads didn’t exist and boxed copies were the norm. Now, almost 20 years later, players will be able to experience the retro thrill of holding a boxed copy of TY The Tasmanian Tiger.
Krome Studios and U&I Entertainment have announced that they’ll be bringing the classic platformer TY The Tasmanian Tiger HD to retail from October 15th. The game will be available in boxed form for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with the latter getting a nice bundle that includes TY 2 and a boomerang USB stick with some extra digital goodies.
“Everyone worldwide will have the opportunity to hold a physical copy,” shares Felipe Rojo, Head of Partnerships of U&I Entertainment. “We’re excited by the opportunity to bring TY the Tasmanian Tiger to stores.”
Steve Stamatiadis, Krome Studio’s Creative Director shares, “I’m honoured to think that 20 years later, fans of the series will be able to enjoy copies in hand and proudly displayed on a shelf, and that includes me!”
I can remember myself as a wee ripper going into GameStation (remember that shop?) on the high street in Bangor, Wales, and getting a nice fresh copy of TY The Tasmanian Tiger for my OG Xbox. That was a long, long time ago, and I’ve recently played some of the HD re-release on PS4 and it’s just as good as it ever was.
If you missed this classic back in the day, or if you’re a platformer fan looking for your next dose of colourful, charming fun, be on the lookout for TY when he chomps his way onto retail store shelves this October 15th. Or just get the digital version…
