After the leaks and rumours, it was only a matter of time before Ubisoft addressed them, and boy did Ubi deliver.
Yesterday we saw a bit of merchandise that indicated the next Assassin’s Creed game would be set in ancient Greece and would be releasing as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Ubisoft has since confirmed this with a tiny, tiny, tiny trailer over on Twitter. No, I’m not exaggerating – it really is a tiny trailer. As you can see in the embedded tweet down below, Ubisoft will be showing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at this year’s E3.

Told you it was tiny, didn’t I?
Fan reactions have been somewhat mixed. Assassin’s Creed Origins was well-received by fans, and it’s no doubt due to the extra year the development team had to polish it to a high shine. Fans are now worried that Ubisoft will be falling back into the annual release pattern and that the game’s will suffer as a result – something we’ve seen happen in the past.
However, it’s far too early to start speculating as to whether it’ll be a dud or not, and I’m definitely not going to poke the coal in that fire. E3 is just around the corner so we’ll know more very, very soon.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
