Ubisoft has yet to release its own twist on the familiar battle royale genre, despite having the potential within its catalogue of games. However, that may change in the future.
When asked during Ubisoft’s quarterly earnings call if the publisher has any plans for free-to-play and battle royale games, given the recent success by others, Ubisoft didn’t make any clear announcement.
Instead, the publisher noted that it is looking at free-to-play models and the battle royale genre and that its teams are working behind the scenes to ensure that Ubisoft remains relevant and competitive. This could mean that Ubisoft is working on something, but whatever it is, the beans are not being spilled today.
