Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Releases June 1st on PS4 as Console Exclusive

SEGA has announced a remade version of Virtua Fighter 5 will be releasing early next month on PlayStation 4 as a console exclusive release.

SEGA has announced today Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will release on June 1st as a console exclusive for the PS4.

The game is a complete remake of the original Virtua Fighter 5 with completely reworked graphics with updated character models, stages, cinematic sequences, and even background music. There’s online support for Leagues, Tournaments, and other online game modes for players to get stuck in to with friends or strangers; there’s also support for audiences to watch in real-time.

“The Virtua Fighter series holds a storied place in SEGA lore,” said Seiji Aoki, Chief Producer. “This new title was developed as part of SEGA’s 60th Anniversary project by an all-star team at AM2 and Ryu ga Gotoku Studios. I am delighted for fans to play and experience the latest entry in the series.”

Funnily enough, it was only yesterday that the rumour appeared that Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown would be a PS Plus freebie for June 2021. At the time of that article being written, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown had not been announced. Interesting, hm?
