The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners got a surprise release on the European PlayStation Stores today, so I threw down my money and took the game for a ride to see how this PSVR port runs on PS4.
The good news is that it runs very well and looks good on PS4 Pro, though it’s still not quite on-par with the PC version, which is expected. Still, I’ve come away from the opening half-hour very impressed. The visuals are fine, though there’s more distance fogging than on PC, and the controls are a little fiddly. The game requires two PS Move wand controllers with all movement being mapped to the face buttons. It’s no worse than other control schemes I’ve played with, and after a bit of trial and error, I found the controls to be sufficient if a little awkward at times.
One point of contention is the loading times, but if that’s the only thing I’ve got to moan about so far, I think it’s safe to say that The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is a fair port for PSVR players.
For £28.99, I’m not going to complain. It seems to be a decent port of a great game, but I’ll need to play further to see if it holds up throughout the experience. In the meantime, you can check out our The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners PCVR review over on our sister site, Pure PSVR.
