World War Z: Aftermath will release digitally and at retail on September 21st for PS4 and Xbox One, with the Switch version slated for sometime this autumn. While the PS5 edition isn’t due to release until sometime in 2022, the World War Z: Aftermath will run with enhancements on PS5, including 4K resolution and 60fps gameplay. The native PS5 version that releases next year will be a free upgrade for PS4 players and it will offer further enhancements.

World War Z was originally released back in 2019 to middling reviews but has since improved by super-powered zombie leaps and bounds. Saber Interactive has been prolific with its post-release support, deploying numerous paid and free updates for the game to keep players in new content long after release.

The Aftermath expansion is a stop-gap between the first game and the World War Z sequel, and it’ll offer new ways to play with new locations, characters, and weapons. There’s also a first-person mode, which is a nice touch and will surely pull a few lapsed players back to the fight.
