Saber Interactive’s World War Z finally has a release date, and it’s just as I suspected it would be. The developer’s upcoming zombie co-op game will be releasing on PS4 this April 16th, just ten days before Sony’s very own zombie game releases on PS4 (April 26th.)
The announcement comes by way of a new trailer released today on YouTube, where we get to see more of the frightening zombie hordes, as well as co-op gameplay. At this point it’s all looking very familiar to anyone who has already watched any of the previously released World War Z game trailers.
While the similarities between World War Z and Sony’s Days Gone are apparent, there are a few things setting them apart. For one, World War Z features co-op for up to four players, though you can play single-player and team up with A.I bots if you don’t want to play online. Days Gone has no multiplayer functionality.
World War Z also features PvPvZ game modes, too. For the unfamiliar, that stands for Player versus Player versus Zombies. Basically, you’ll be fighting against other real players whilst also fighting off the massive zombie hordes. It looks pretty intense and you can check out the trailer for the PvPvZ modes through here.
The game itself is described as being a fast-paced zombie shooter with the game taking place in locations all over the world. The game’s story is split between the tales of survival across the globe. Some have likened the game to Valve’s excellent co-op zombie games Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. As Valve doesn’t seem to be in a rush to bring us Left 4 Dead 3 anytime soon (why?!?!) World War Z may be the closest thing we’ll have to a decent Left 4 Dead style game on PS4.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
