The next entry in the popular franchise will be hitting PlayStation 4’s in North America and Europe on January 24, 2017. Yakuza 0 is a prequel to all the other games so don’t be afraid to jump right in with this one. The release date was accompanied by another big announcement. The localization process with maintain the general-use honorifics. In other words the original Japanese voices will be left in the game in hopes to bring an authentic Yakuza experience.
“Beyond just marrying the subtitles to the spoken word, the honorifics actually play a pretty important role in understanding the respect (or lack thereof) characters have for each other. I think you’ll really see how much more this adds to the story when you get to play it!” Localization Producer, Scott Strichart said.
Once you get away from the heavy stuff, because you know the Yakuza aren’t exactly friendly, the game will offer plenty of diversions. There’s racing, managing businesses, dancing, activities in a pool hall, bar hopping, and much more. Check out the PlayStation Blog for the announcement in its entirety. Yakuza 0 can also be pre-ordered here.
