Falcom and NIS America dropped a new trailer for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. It’s called a story trailer, but it seems to be heavier on character introductions. That’s fine, because we still get to see a lot of locations in the world. For the story, Adol Christin is accused of being a spy and locked into prison from which he is not expected to ever escape. With some new abilities, he and some friends will uncover the secrets of the city of Balduc and most likely have a mostly happy ending. At least, I think that’s a fair guess on the ending part.
The rest of the characters and locations look nice. The game is also coming to the Switch, so keep your visual expectations in check. Otherwise, it appears to be a wide variety of quirky individuals who liven up many a JRPG and is one of the reasons they are so enjoyable. The locations are inside the prison, city streets, and a friendly pub.
February is heating up, and you can play Ys XI: Monstrum Nox on February 2, 2021.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
